One more week to go.......my first FM SCM 2015! Still not as fit to run entire 42km but will adopt some walking to conserve energy so as not to get bonk!

Cheers!

Finally completed my first ever Full Marathon! ......at this age....
From the Friday night fly back from Hong Kong until Saturday night before the race, it has been torturing due to lack of sleep...this really not good for preparation a marathon race, I learned this and must ensure not to repeat the next time, sleep is hell important!
Overall not much comment on the race as I think the organizer done pretty well! As this is my first race I am pretty happy on what I have achieved although I did not met my targeted timing....but it is ok since is a first FM! Learned the experience and do it again on another FM!
What have I gain and what have I learned :
1. Mental - East coast park truly a test of mental, because it is a long stretch and you will tends to looking forward for the U-turn when you see other runners heading the opposite direction.....is long and monotonous that is when your negative sentiment kicks in and mood drop! So your mind have to be clear and you have to enjoy the surrounding......trees, people cheering(though not many.. ) and beaches
2. Heat - Although we know SG weather well but still we get bang by the heat! Me too did not do any prep for last 13km under hot Sun.....but I was lucky that I brought my hydration belt which allow me to carry water and cools me down! So the next FM, the first 2 hours is always important as I would do positive split instead of negative split unless it is night race...
3. Fitness - this is real important and is the main factor how you going to complete in good shape. I blame myself did not focus on strength, though I did some but my fitness is still not enough for my legs to last until 35km.....it is not hydration it is not energy but muscle fatigue... :tired: And I believed myself this have to do with fitness........
Have been back to office yesterday and again so tiring from midnight flight........with all these I believed I can do it better the next FM.... :run:

Congrats to you, kevinong! It is better to get it done later than never!

Be sure to rest well and hope your legs don't feel penguin by now.

Thanks trailblazer! I am doing fine and actually my leg wasn't that bad not to that stage have to walk like penguin :D the first half was too slow as I was worry I may use too much energy that might Bonk in the second half.....in fact during one of my 30km LSD I almost bonk at 28km! I know the feeling and is bad!
I look forward to return home next year and will have more time running the SG weather....at least it always constant  unlike here and have to deal with diff climate.....got a thermal shock when reached HK/China on Wednesday!
